Tips for Seasonal Home Maintenance

Seasonal Home Maintenance


As seasons change, so does your home. New weather signals a new list of home maintenance chores. Here are few simple home tips to remember for each season:

Winter:

- Insert identifiers for your sprinkler system.

- Purchase de-icer and salt.

- Store and drain lawn equipment.

- Seal windows and doors.

- Turn off and drain outdoor faucets.


Spring:

- Plant bulbs.

- Clean gutters.

- Seed the lawn.

- Remove plastic from doors and windows.

- Clean and prep pool.

- Check garden hoses, lawn equipment, etc., for any necessary repairs/replacement.

Summer:

- Replace filters on HVAC.

- Plant flowers.

- Get out lawn furniture.

- Prep grill for cookouts.

- Re-stain deck.

- Flush sediment from your water heater.

- Finish painting projects.

Fall:

- Replace heater filters.

- Flush sprinkler systems.

- Mulch leaves.

- Trim trees and shrubbery.

- Aerate your lawn (midfall in the northern US and early fall in the southern US).

- Turn off power to AC.
